1467. CONCERNING THE PUNISHMENTS OF VASTATION OF THOSE WHO ASSUME HYPOTHETICAL THEORIES IN REGARD TO SPIRITUAL AND CELESTIAL THINGS, AND CONFIRM THEM BY REASONINGS It is well known that some men assume for themselves certain propositions hatched from their own brain, and because they love them as their offspring, they later confirm them by many things, and afterwards regard them as verities, although they are falsities. Others can see that they are hypotheses. It is the same in spiritual and celestial things as in other matters.
