[280.] They are kept in a lower earth to the left, in a society separate from the rest, because they are by themselves and have a society of interior friendship which, if it were to be in proximity to others, would destroy the others' delights. From time to time they withdraw from that society toward the left, into a desert which exists for them alone, where there is no grass, where there are rocks and crags.
