[124.] They afterward showed me what the people are like in Africa, which they know from societies of that race in the spiritual world; namely, that in the interior of Africa are found the best and the wise; that those who are not good dwell along the Mediterranean Sea, as well as in the vicinity of Egypt and toward the Cape of Good Hope; and that there is a region inhabited by good people extending from Ethiopia toward the center, into which foreigners from Europe are not admitted, and if they make their way in and are unwilling to serve, the people sell them to Asians. The spirits also said that some of them currently speak with Africans in the world and instruct them orally, that their speech with them descends chiefly into their inner perception, and that they sense the influx, thus receiving the revelation with enlightenment. They speak in this way with their teachers, they said, in whom the people have confidence.
