9878. 'Each according to its name' means for each one in particular; and 'they shall be for the twelve tribes' means for all in general. This is clear from the meaning of 'the names of the sons of Israel' as forms of good and truths in respect of their entire essential nature - dealt with above in 9842, 9843 - and since each stone was named after one of the tribes, each one in particular is accordingly meant; and from the meaning of 'the twelve tribes' as all the forms of good and truths in their entirety. For all is meant by 'twelve', 3272, 3858, 3913, 7973, and forms of the good of love and the truths of faith in their entirety by 'the tribes', 3858, 3926, 3939, 4060, 6335, 6397, 7836, 7891, 7996, 7997, thus all in general.
