This is clear from the meaning of 'lying' as life, for here lying implies being buried with them, and since being buried is resurrection and regeneration, 'lying with them' is life (for resurrection is an entering into life, and so similarly is regeneration); and from the meaning of 'fathers' as those who belonged to the Ancient Church and the Most Ancient, dealt with in 6075, thus the ancients.
