Arcana Coelestia (Elliott) n. 4187

4187. 'And for my daughters, what am I to do for them today, or for their sons whom they have borne?' means that it did not dare to lay claim to those things as its own. This is clear from the meaning of 'daughters' as affections for truth, and of 'sons' as truths, dealt with just above in 4185. Its not daring to lay claim to those things as its own is meant by 'what am I to do for them today?' This is evident from what has gone before, that is to say, in God's telling him in a dream, 'Take care not to speak to Jacob either good or evil', verse 24.
