But it should be pointed out that vices, together with their fantasies, are thus portrayed as a veil, and while it so appears to those who are wrapped up, yet it is the inward qualities which bring on these phenomena. How the inward qualities are changing is watched by the angels who stand by, and then the veil develops accordingly. So it varies according to the changes of inward qualities, thus differently in one person than in another. This the onlooking angels see.
