23. [THAT SPIRITS ARE HELD IN BONDS CONCERNING PERMISSION] Spirits are held in bonds, and this with much variety. They do not know that they are so held; and when the bond is loosened, they suppose that they act from their own power. Nor do they know in what manner they are held in bonds.
