19. CONJUGIAL (Conjugiale).

The conjugial is chief among the essentials of human life, and it distinguishes man from common animal life: according to it, therefore, man is man (834-838 [CL 140, 148, 203, 230]).

According to the loss and deficiency of the conjugial, man approaches the nature of the beast (840-846).

Certain causes from which the conjugial perishes (922 [CL 80]).

Some things regarding the conjugial, and the things which destroy it (1734, 1735 [CL 238-243]).

The conjugial is the very jewel of human life, and the repository of the Christian religion; it is therefore to be preserved in every possible way (1804, 1805 [CL 456-458, 466, 531]).

Also, what the conjugial is (1805 [CL 457]).

The conjugial may be conserved by keeping a mistress (1806, 1807 [CL 459]).

The conjugial is destroyed by the excessive lusts of varieties (1810-1813 [CL 456]);

By the lust of defloration (1814-1817 [CL 504]).

So, too, by the lust of violation (1819-1822 [CL 511]).

And also by the lust of seducing innocencies (1823-1825 [CL 513, 514]).
