151. It has been said that the chief essential of the church is to know and recognize its God, and that without this chief essential there is not any conjunction with God, and thus there is not heaven and eternal life; the reason of which is, that in the spiritual world thought and will have their conjunction with him who is regarded and loved; He turns Himself in that direction, and then also all things belonging to the man; wherefore the direction of all heaven is towards the Lord.
