CONCERNING SPIRITUAL PERSUASION AND PERCEPTION As those who are led by the Lord perceive what they ought to do, and this in a manner not intelligible to others, so too are they persuaded what they ought to know, and this also in a spiritual manner unintelligible to others. Therefore if they meet with something closely resembling the truth, so that there is scarcely anything contradictory, but all things are affirmatory, they are still not persuaded until there is a spiritual persuasion, which is that of faith. 1748, Mar. 15.
