[35.] Luther related that when he was in the world, he was told through an angel sent by the Lord to stay away from faith alone, because there was nothing in it, and that for some time therefore he did stay away from it and advocated works. But despite this he later continued to separate faith from works, he said, and to make it alone essential and saving.
