[310.] Few so far have had any idea of degrees other than the idea of a continuous degree, such as exists from the pure to the crude or from the greatest to the least, giving rise to the notion that there is only one kind of degree, and that the natural degree and spiritual degree are distinguished only as the pure and the crude are, likewise the heavens in relation to each other, and the wisdom of the angels in relation to each other, when in fact they differ in accordance with discrete degrees. Regarding the nature of these latter degrees, more will be told below from personal experience.
