8323. 'You have possessed' means who have thereby become the Lord's. This is clear from the meaning of 'possessing' as being His. Because the subject at this point is those governed by truth and good whom the Lord came into the world to save, it is they who are meant as being the Lord's. Elsewhere they are called 'the redeemed', as in Isaiah,
Were You not that which dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, which made the deep places of the sea a road, In order that the redeemed might pass through? So let the redeemed of Jehovah return. Isa 51:10, 11.
