5444. 'And one is not' means that the Divine spiritual from which [the joining together begins] is not apparent. This is clear from the representation of Joseph, to whom 'one' refers here, as the celestial of the spiritual, or what amounts to the same, the Divine spiritual, which is truth from the Divine, dealt with in 3969, 4286, 4592, 4723, 4727, 4963, 5249, 5307, 5331, 5332, 5417 (and since the whole joining together of truth in the natural begins from the Divine spiritual, the expression 'the Divine spiritual from which' is used); and from the meaning of 'is not' as the fact that it is not apparent. For Joseph was present there but did not make it apparent to them who he was because the intermediary, which is 'Benjamin', was not with them.
