4078. 'And God has not allowed him to do evil to me' means that it was nevertheless unable to cause any hindrance. This is clear from the meaning of 'not allowing to do evil', when it has reference to the Lord, as being unable to cause any hindrance. For nothing is able to do evil to the Divine, but influx from it can be hindered, this being what all evil does. From this it is evident what 'doing evil' means here.
