3433. 'And he called the name of it Rehoboth' means the essential nature of the truth from there. This is clear from the meaning of 'calling the name' as the essential nature, dealt with in 144, 145, 1754, 1896, 2009, 2724, 3006, 3421, and from the meaning of 'Rehoboth' as truths, for Rehoboth in the original language means broad places; and the fact that 'broad places' in the internal sense of the Word are truths, has been shown in 1613.
