If this little work be not added to the preceding one, the Church cannot be healed; there would be only a palliative cure, a wound in which the corrupt matter remains, and eats away the neighbouring parts. Orthodoxy is itself this corrupt matter; and the doctrine of the New Church indeed furnishes a remedy, but only outwardly.
