167. Mohammedans did not acknowledge three persons, but one God, thus denying the Divinity of the Lord and acknowledging the Father alone as God. (2.) For the same reason the Socinians also do the same, saying that there is one God and that He is the Father. (3) For the same reason, many others, the learned as well as the simple, tacitly acknowledge the Father alone, and the Lord only as an ordinary man. Let each one examine himself as to whether he has an idea of Divinity concerning the Lord, even when belief in Him is necessary in order to have eternal life. (4) For the same reason, the Jews charge the Christians that they have three Gods. (5) For the same reason, most of those in the other life, when examined, worship the Father alone, or the Holy Spirit but not the Lord; and yet without faith in the Lord, there is no salvation. (6) All these things [result] because they have divided the one Divinity into three persons.
