23. (IV.) In proportion as a man does not will to do evil to the neighbor he wills to do him good, and not the converse. There are civil good, moral good, and spiritual good. The good done before a man shuns evils as sins is civil and moral; but in proportion as he shuns evils as sins the good becomes spiritual also, as well as civil and moral; and not before.
